Sollte die Herren am Foto aber jemand erkennen, kann es auch sein, dass wir zugeben müssen, dass wir uns gar keine Feierkumpanen gemietet haben, sondern Markus, Mario und Lissi in Bangkok getroffen haben, die gerade eine Thailandreise hinter sich gebracht hatten. …aber weit und breit kein liegender Buddha, dafür aber viele Schneiderläden, zu denen wir ungewollt gekarrt wurden. Deswegen war der Fahrpreis so günstig, „was nix kost‘ is nix wert“ gilt wohl auch hier. Frühmorgens am nächsten Tag, so gegen 13.00h, machten wir uns dann auf den Weg zur Einwanderungsbehörde um unsere Visa verlängern zu lassen. Man bekommt nämlich bei der Einreise nach Thailand über Land nur eine Aufenthaltsgenehmigung für 15 Tage ausgestellt, kommt man per Flugzeug sinds 30, wieso weiß niemand. Da wir aber 30 Tage in Thailand planen, mussten wir uns um die Verlängerungen kümmern. Wir nahmen uns ein Taxi und fuhren viele viele Kilometer zum Immigration Office, das in unserem Reiseführer angegeben war. Leider ist es dort aber vor einiger Zeit weggezogen. Ich weiß, wieso ich Lonely Planet Führer nicht mag, nichteinmal die billigen Kopien. Da Bangkok nicht besonders klein ist verwunderte es uns nicht, dass der neue Standort über 30km vom alten entfernt lag. Also ging es wieder weiter mit dem Taxi, diesmal zum richtigen Standort.
Das Geschäft mit den Visa muss zimlich gut laufen, denn so schaut das Gebäude aus, in dem das Immigration Office untergebracht ist:

Leider gibt es in Thailand extrem wenige thailändische Botschaften.
Also zogen wir unverrichteter Dinge ab und spulten die restlichen der ca. 90 Taxikilometer dieses Tages bis zu unserem Hotel ab.
Wirklich problematisch ist die Sache mit dem Visum für uns nicht, wir müssen nur unsere Reisepläne ein wenig anpassen, da man, wenn man aus Thailand ausreist und wieder einreist, wieder ein Visum für 15 Tage bekommt. Heißt für uns: Bis spätestens 19.3. aus Thailand ausreisen und frühestens mit 20.3. wieder einreisen. Ein einfacher sogenannter „Visa-Run“, den man an einigen Grenzen in ein paar Stunden erledigen kann funktioniert für uns also nicht, da wir mindestens eine Nacht „draußen bleiben“ müssen.
Bleiben folgende Optionen:
- Wie geplant in den Süden an die Strände fahren und von dort zum richtigen Datum entweder nach Malaysia oder Birma ausreisen.
Leider ist aber die Grenzregion zu Malaysia nicht die sicherste unddie Grenzen zu Birma sind sowieso oft geschlossen, der aktuelle Stand ist ungewiss. - Auf Koh Chang, einer Insel im Norden des thailändischen Golfs, einige Tage verbringen und dann kurz nocheinmal nach Kambodscha einreisen.
Soweit wir das bei der Einreise gesehen haben, wollen wir aber keine Nacht in einer kambodschanischen Grenzstadt verbringen, außerdem waren wir in Kambodscha schon. - Alle Varianten, gleich jetzt über eine Grenze zu fahren und dann vom Ausland zurückzufliegen um ein Visum für 30 Tage zu bekommen sind so kurzfristig einfach zu kostspielig.
- In Thailands Norden nach Chiang Mai fahren, von dort aus über Chiang Rai nach Laos und dann über Vientiane wieder nach Thailand.
Grundsätzlich wäre diese Variante ok, allerdings ist die Fahrt von Chiang Rai über die Grenze und dann weiter in Laos so zeitaufwendig, das wir, würden wir nicht immer nur unterwegs sein wollen, niemals bis zum 20.3. in Vientiane wären und damit nurmehr relativ wenig Zeit für Südthailnd übrig wäre. Diese Variante wäre grundsätzlich die beste, allerdings haben wir ein paar Reiseberichte von Leuten gelesen, die das so gemacht haben und es scheint nicht gerade eine angenehme Strecke zu sein. - Wir fahren direkt von Bangkok nach Vientiane, bereisen 10 Tage Laos und kehren am 20.3. nach Thailand zurück.
Bei dieser Option würden wir keine „Runde“ drehen, müssen also die gleiche Strecke zurückfahren die wir gekommen sind. Wir haben allerdings die Option, die oben beschriebene Runde in die andere Richtung zu machen, wenn uns der Sinn danach steht.
Da wir eigentlich nach Bangkok einmal in den Süden wollten waren wir auf diese Gebiete nicht wirklich vorbereitet und haben uns fast einen ganzen Tag Zeit genommen, die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten abzuwiegen.
